Ok, if you put your brain in a robot body-and there is a war between robots and humans?

What side would you be on?

Faintly reminiscent of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep/Bladerunner and Capek’s R.U.R.

What you are really asking is whether the human spirit/essence/soul resides in the physical brain? The answer to that is , no. It resides in the consciousness which “informs” the physical brain but is wholly non physical, and, thus, among other attributes, survives “death”. :) ))

Unless my brain was altered to be more “robotic” I’d side with humans. I mean, your brain is what makes you *you*, not your body.

Watched the final episode of the second season of the new Dr. Who, where just that situation occurred. The head of the
‘Torchwood’ whose motto/life was ‘for Queen and Country’, failed/helped cause a robot invasion. Her brain was put inside a machine whence she became one of the ‘bad guys’… but she managed to will herself to turn on the other robots.

In that case it points out two things crucial in your argument. Am I still allowed free will or do the ‘nano’ probes or circuitry or whatever screwing up my thought process?
    2. Even though ‘I’ put my brain in the robot, what was my intention? Did I want to be a robot, or just extend my ‘life’ despite the robotic form?

I would only put my brain in a robot to extend my life, not to be a robot (I’d prefer to be a human). As long as the robot ‘anti-bodies’ didn’t influence my will, I’d be the best Pinocchio I could be and fight alongside Geppeto.

    Peace
